Minecraft - joining the lego set

Minecraft is a popular game on the classic category with a ever increasing popularity on both the web browser and the mobile platforms, now it has also been approved in LEGO form. The game is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world. And now that the project has reached it's designated vote numbers in the CUUSOO project, it means that you can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world!

What is CUUSOO?

Cuusoo is a japanese partner of the lego group, it works as a socially judged creation platform for LEGO fans who want to see their projects made into real LEGO-carried sets for stores. This partnership works to produce community supported sets, if an idea submitted to the website gains 10,000 (originally 1000) supporters, the project qualifies itself to be produced as an official LEGO product. All the users have to do is to get an idea, create the project their dreams, post it up to the site, get 10,000 supporters, and the project is well on it's way to become reality! One it qualifies and passes the CUUSOO review, it will be produced by LEGO and the creator will receive 1% of total net sales throughout the project’s lifespan. Here is a video made to understand the Cuuso concept:

How Minecraft lego came about

Curious on who the creator of this Minecraft project was? It turns out that it was none other than the developers of the game itself: Mojang. The developers worked with a couple of Minecraft fans to produce some awesome sets that would help to inspire CUUSOO users to bring them into the LEGO fold. The following is a quote from the developers themselves:

"Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world. You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together.
We’ve invited a couple of the LEGO fans behind the earlier LEGO Minecraft projects, suparMacho and koalaexpert, to collaborate with us to shape the idea. We’re also interested in your ideas, and will select the best LEGO Minecraft models to also join our efforts.
As the official Mojang LEGO Minecraft project, we will work with the LEGO Group to secure a licensing agreement and donate the 1% royalty from LEGO CUUSOO to charity. Let’s make LEGO Minecraft happen together!! =D"
Will you pick up the Minecraft lego set?I haven't played with the Minecraft game myself but know many friends who do, the news is still something to be excited over whenever something we like makes a appearance elsewhere!

  1. I'm not much for minecraft (sour grapes - I have no way to play it, really), but I AM one for legos! Somethin' to check out, in the very least.
